Eretz Umiloah

Eretz Umiloah is a year program in Israel based in the city of Modiin for post high school (18 - 20) young adults who are looking to further understand what Judaism, Israel and being part of the Jewish people means to them. The program will start its first year September 2005. The program offers the participants a chance to bond with Israeli families, volunteer in a number a fields, learn about their heritage, travel all of Israel and most importantly connect with their past, present and future.

Community Based

Eretz Umiloah is based in Modiin, a city between Jerusalem and Tel Aviv. The participants will be encouraged to meet and become familiar with the residents of the community. The community will be asked to take the participants in and to invite them to community events.

Volunteer Work

Three afternoons a week Eretz Umiloah participants will have the chance to take an active role in the community with volunteer work. Volunteer options can include being involved in education, community, emergency, or government areas.

Informal Education

Eretz Umiloah’s educational aspect will be done in an informal setting. The learning will either be discussion based classroom, one-on-one partner style(Chavruta), or a with guest speaker. This will promote participation, discussion, and insure personal attention.

Experiencing Israel

Eretz Umiloah will spend extensive time touring and learning about Israel. Each participant will be able to know all of Israel intimately by the end of the year.

Eretz Um’loah’s goals include:

  • To provide a venue for students who want to come study about Israel in Israel.
  • To instill in the participant a love of Israel.
  • To provide a real connection between the participant, the Jewish people and the Land of Israel
  • To provide a new type of alternative to traditional yearlong programs.
  • To provide the participant a sense of belonging to a community in Israel.
