Le'eylah
Yeshivat Rambam, 2004
The 11 th grade class from Yeshivat Rambam, Baltimore
spent an incredible 3 week fun-filled program in Israel . They went
touring all over the country, from climbing Massada in the south to
an old Talm udi c village in the north, as well as spending 2 days
in Gadna and getting the real army experience.
They encountered both the reality of our past as well as the reality
of our present, while at the same time being confronted with the question
of what they see as our future.
One participant commented:
“I really felt like I was
helping, it showed me what different peoples' lives are like.” |
But not only did they manage to do touring in their short stay in
Israel, they also spent several mornings volunteering, once at an absorption
center for Ethiopian immigrants in Tzfat, where they painted some apartments
and in Jerusalem where they helped the families of terror victims prepare
for Shabbat.
They also spent their Sundays learning in Yeshivot and Seminaries
in order to get a feeling for what learning the whole day means and
to get a better idea of how and where they would want to spend their
year after school.
As one student put it “Fantastic time, I learnt so much and gained
a lifetime worth of experiences”
