Netivot 8

Special Israel Trips for Eighth Grade Groups

Netivot 8, is a two week educational - touring experience in Israel . Its goal is to strengthen the students' connection to their people, homeland and religious heritage while they are still within the context of a Jewish school. We hope that this experience will forge a bond that will be further strengthened two years hence, when the Netivot 8 graduates are high school sophomores. At that point, they may choose to return for a longer stay as participants in a Netivot High School In Israel program.

Approach

Our travel itinerary follows an "in the footsteps of..." approach. On each day of the program, the participants will concentrate on a major figure in Jewish history (e.g., Rachel Imeinu, King Saul, Golda Meir, etc..). The participants, using the Netivot 8 source book given out at the beginning of the trip, will study about that person's life, experiences and legacy, and debate the issues most central to that figure in the very settings where he/she made history. In this way, history, Jewish values and the Land of Israel come alive for the Netivot 8 student.

Other Activities

Along with a strong educational experience we pride ourselves on providing a really good time. Netivot 8 will show the kids how to Israel can be a place to simply have plain old fun. Hiking, donkey rides, ice skating, cable car rides are just some of the exciting activities the kids enjoy. This combination of learning, sightseeing, and fun is a very effective way to learn about Israel , and provides for an experience that has been thoroughly enjoyed by both participants and staff alike.

Tour Guides

Our tour leaders are certified by the Ministry of Tourism and have experience in dealing with young adults. They are chosen on the basis of their knowledge, charisma, creativity and ability to serve as role models.

Health and Security

Each group is escorted by an armed security officer in accordance with Israeli law. There is also a trained medic on hand for all field trips equipped with first aid materials. Each participant is fully insured against illness or injury that may occur during the course of the program. There is a nationwide network of doctors available to us that we can call upon in any part of the country and at any time. Further, in times of unrest, we have very strict procedures regarding where the group may and may not go. This information is updated daily through the Jewish Agency and IDF.

Lodgings and Kashrut

Netivot 8 groups can be accommodated in both youth hostels and five star hotels, depending on the group's preferences. Kashrut standards may also vary from Rabbanut to Mehadrin to Badatz.

Scheduling

Our program is approximately two weeks in duration and can be run at a time that is most convenient for your school. Weather can be a factor, so when planning your potential dates please keep in mind that the most pleasant times of the year for traveling are in the spring and fall.
