Israel, the land of our forefathers, has been for the Jewish people not only a physical haven throughout the past hundred years, but has also provided us with the spirit, the flavor, and the culture of the Jewish people. Thousands of students take a year off before university and become elevated, energized, and enlightened during their year of study in Israel. Many programs are in the ‘Yeshiva style’ which focus on Talmudic analysis and in-depth studying of Rabbinic texts. Other programs merely provide academic university courses in the land of Israel.

There is, however, another path. Netivot (Pathways) Yisrael offers post high school men and women a unique authentic Israeli Experience. Our mission is to spark a fire which ignites the North American Jew with the sensation of an intense connection to his homeland. To teach the individual how to grasp and acquire a piece of Israeli culture, a deep understanding of the land, and a profound meaning of what it means to live here as part of the chosen people.

Through a synthesis of Academic excellence and fun and exciting programs, our pathway to Israel guides you towards achieving your personal goals for your year in Israel.

Beginning September 2005!

Tiyul with a Tanach

Every Thursday throughout the year, the students will leave the study halls and learn about Israel through walking, hiking, and biking through its mountains and valleys, ruins and restorations. Guided by a veteran educator and a Tanach, the students will unearth the historical treasures of our country and learn about their heritage through its sites, teaching them to appreciate our deep-rooted connection to this land which has given us strength for thousands of years.

Live the Language

Hebrew, the language of our past, present and future, will be not only be taught, but also experienced, so that by year’s end our students will understand their daily prayers and daily newscasts, will comfortably leaf through both the Torah and the newspaper and partake in the favorite Israeli pastime of sitting in a coffeshop and schmoozing with their new Israeli friends.

Meeting through Mifgashim

The best way to learn about the country is to connect with its people on an intimate level. Our Mifgashim encounters provide a venue for our students to forge relationships with their Israeli peers; sharing their customs, traditions and outlooks in fun and relaxed settings. Throughout the year, we will have monthly programs with an elite group of Israeli students who have chosen to delay their army service for one year and study to become future leaders of Israel. The culmination of these Mifgashim will be a two week long hike throughout the country, strengthening the connections made during the year, both to each other and to the Land. Through a deep awareness of the history and sanctity of the land of Israel, an intense understanding of Hebrew and the Biblical texts, and a new group of Israeli friends, the Netivot student emerges from the year in Israel with a second home. A home which is comfortable and familiar to them when they come to vacation, study, or settle.

The Netivot Yisrael Program

• Intellectually stimulating courses about Israel, its history, geography, and culture
